End of the Season Thoughts

Hats

What's New @ GLDC

It is late and though I had some thoughts as to what I wanted to put here but they have escaped me for now.  This web site has not been updated since the fall, and most of you know why, and probably understand.  It is the same reason the screens are still on the windows and the driveway never got sealed and now the snow if flying so just forget about trimming back the bushes.  The waterfowl season is a wonderful time of the year, and if your spouse is understanding, many of the jobs and honey-dos get put aside so you can sneak into the marsh in the middle of the night.  I had a great season this year.  Spent many fine days in the blind with old friends and made some new ones too.  Got to do and see some firsts.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching a rookie succumb to the waterfowling bug.  Just before the deer season, I heard him chant "I can't give up deer hunting, I can't give up deer hunting...."  He shot a goose that day and missed a good share a mallards.  I don't think deer hunting has a chance!

No hat pictures yet.  Close your eyes and picture what a GLDC hat would look like.  Come back soon and see if we come close.  If you receive the Cabela's Corporate Clothing catalog, you can see a picture of our logo on one of their long sleeve camo shirts.  Kind of cool!

While you are waiting for the hat photo, jump over to the photo page to see the new pics!

Lots of new things going here.  We are experimenting with new decoy materials.  We are working on both burlapped covered foam decoys and two part urethane foam blocks.

The burlapped foamers have a lot of promise, they will feature a virtually non-destructible body with a hand carved wooden head, glass eyes and custom paint.  The two part urethane foamers are just in the mold phase right now and this project may or may not come to fruition.  It is an idea we have been batting around for a while now, time will tell.

Both of these projects are aimed at creating a custom decoy, that is light weight, durable and relatively inexpensive.  These will be blocks for the layout boys to create large spreads that are tough enough to be tossed into the boat.
